Nature conservation and the economy were apparently irreconcilable opposites for a long time. But sustainable management is becoming increasingly important for many businesses. They not only benefit from a resource-saving economy for cost reasons.
Sustainability, environmental protection and nature conservation are pressing issues today. Businesses are also increasingly concerned with how to work profitably while minimising the impact on the environment and climate. Saving resources through more efficient technology or through recycling even saves costs in the long run. Even energy-intensive companies can work in a more environmentally friendly way by switching to renewable energies. One example from our region is the pulp mill near Arneburg, which relies on largely sustainable production. Chemicals are reused several times thanks to a recovery cycle and water consumption has been reduced by using newer plants. Energy for production is also obtained from the company's own biomass power plant using residue from processing. This is what environmentally friendly and resource-saving production can look like even for large industrial plants.
