The disposal and recycling of waste as raw material in the Altmark’s districts
Waste as a valuable raw material
Whereas waste used to be something that had to be disposed of, today it has been recognised that waste can be valuable raw materials. If these raw materials are used effectively, they are put back into the economic cycle and resources are conserved.
The German waste management sector works with high-quality technologies to use waste efficiently and to dispose of waste that is no longer usable in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Energy recovery in the form of electricity from waste incineration in particular is playing an increasingly important role, especially in the light of the current environmental and climate discussions.
Two companies are currently responsible for waste disposal in the Altmark, one for the Stendal district and one for the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel district.
