Interview with Matthias Schulz
Matthias Schulz is the fourth generation to run the fruit pressing plant in Diesdorf together with his father. In addition to fruit juice and wine, they have greatly expanded their portfolio.
As one of the most important economic sectors in the Altmark, the service industry has a great variety of branches. Whether it’s a hotelier, specialist for IT solutions, media agency or fruit pressing business – they all have one thing in common: always being close to the customer. Innovative solutions are also often required. However, Altmark companies are not afraid of these challenges.
As in the rest of Germany, you will find a wide range of service provision companies in the Altmark, from banks, insurance companies, tax advisers and lawyers to dry cleaners and hairdressers. However, the Altmark is particularly outstanding for its food service industry. Here you will find many small owner-run cafés, restaurants and pubs, which are mainly characterised by personal contact with the guests. Regional and seasonal dishes are lovingly and freshly prepared – this warmth shapes the culinary region of the Altmark.
In a region that is very much characterised by agriculture and trades, there are also many "craft" services, such as the contract processing of fruit in the fruit pressing plant.
