Solidarity is still very important in the Altmark. And not just in private. As solidarity firstly means: helping each other, whether it's with good advice, valuable contacts or even getting stuck in. But solidarity also means: doing something together for the region. Like-minded people pulling together to make a difference on a voluntary basis. All this and much more are the Junior Chamber's goals.
The Junior Chamber Altmark (WJA) is an association of more than 60 young entrepreneurs and managers from both the Altmark districts. If you include the potential members and supporters, it is in fact more than 130. The special thing: All members are committed movers and shakers under 40 years of age. And that is exactly what it is all about – doing something together! For the region. For the local economy. For the people who live here. And with a lot of fun in sociable company. Many of the projects implemented by the WJA are aimed primarily at young people. Young people should be shown the prospects in their home region. To inspire them to stay in the Altmark. Or at least for them to come back here at some point. For example, pupils are allowed to accompany the boss of an company based in the Altmark for a day and experience at first hand they can really have a career here. Or they learn programming in an interactive way with the help of clever Lego robots. Children in daycare learn about sustainability and healthy nutrition by pressing their own juice from apples they've picked themselves. On the WJA's initiative, thousands of children and adults clean up the forests and town centres, picking up litter and dirt for a week. And these are just a few of the numerous projects that the young entrepreneurs set up on a voluntary basis
Positive side effect: The joint commitment to the good cause has, quite incidentally, given rise to the largest business network in the region. And the largest Junior Chamber district in Saxony-Anhalt. Such a versatile network is worth its weight in gold for any entrepreneur. Especially in an area as vast as the Altmark. And it's a great sign! The message is clear: there are an incredible number of young business leaders, innovative founders, market leaders and more in the Altmark region. Our region is full of positive examples of successful companies and people who are deliberately building something up here. They want to raise its profile and give it a voice. And it is being heard! Since its new formation in 2010, the Junior Chamber has been in constant constructive dialogue with policy makers, administration and many committed Altmarkers. This is how networking works in the Altmark. Not as an end in itself but to make a difference together. And to actively shape the region's future.
