The Altmark region
The Altmark region is an old German cultural landscape. The "cradle of Prussia" can be found here and more Hanseatic towns in a very small area than in virtually any other region in Germany. The Romanesque Route and the German Half-Timbered House Road lead through the Altmark, as does the famous Way of St. James. In addition to the diverse culture, you can discover a unique natural landscape with a rich bird life and wildlife and you can exhaust yourself with sporting activities, whether its cycling on the Elberadweg, canoeing on the Elbe or on the back of a horse.
